Diving in Croatia
You can monitor the diving activities in the whole country of Croatia during many years, diving clubs and centres exist since the year 1950. The real explosion of the diving popularity happened within the past 10 years. With this diving explosion came also the great expansion, namely diving clubs and centres have been established almost on each and every Croatian island and in lots of cities on the mainland as well.

Sorry to say, but lots of people can not liberate themselves from a fear of water although they want to familiarize and be active within this sport or you can say a recreation – diving. Further south, sea becomes deeper and you can get even on 1300 metres deep around the island Jabuka (Apple).
When it comes to diving formalities, you mustn’t forget on the Croatian diving permit. This permit is necessary for legal diving in Croatia. A year valid diving permit you can get for around 15 euros at your dive centre or a dive club. Of course, you must have your passport and the diving certification card with you.
For some unique locations you’ll need even a special permit for a very affordable price, don’t worry.
In Croatia you can dive pretty much the whole year. From May to November you can for certain dive on the sea. The rest of the year various courses and great choice of advanced trainings are organised on the solid ground.
In summer water temperature vary from 22-25°C, under 12 m it goes down to 19°C. Wet suit is a choice of many people even in summer. Winter water is even chillier, around 11°C on the surface.
For the matter of waves, you can expect them from 0,5m till 1,5m although they can even reach 5 metres. The current is mostly weak, but you have to be careful in channels and passages between islands.
