The island of Pag is a great island with inspiring and remarkable landscapes, unique white stone and the most beautiful sea surrounding. But that is not all. The island of Pag contents of some beautiful small towns and villages, just waiting for you to discover them and use as an objective for your vacation. Here I’ll tell you a bit about some of those places.

The city of Pag is a major city on the island of Pag. It was built on the earthquake ruins of the city of Kissa and has a rich and interesting history. Its first location was on present location of today’s Stari Grad (=Old City). This today’s position is improved because it has better port and is more spacious. Worldwide known architect and sculptor Juraj Dalmatinac is the creator of the city plan and of some ornaments on buildings. The city has its own cathedral which is the middle object in the city.

Lun is a village easily reached from Novalja by car using the main road or from Rab using the Lun-Rab passenger ferry. Majority of village of Lun is positioned about a kilometre up the hill from the shore. Its docks are named Tovarnelle. Major occupation of Luns population in summer period is keeping restaurants opened and bed and breakfast’s for travellers and tourists. Supplementary activities for survival of people in this village are farming sheep and goats, fishing, grapes and olives.

Stara Novalja is a rural community positioned in the bay of identical name in the north eastern part of the Pag island. Foundation of the financial system lies on farming, fishing, wine culture and tourism.

The bay of Stara Novalja is the submerged part of the “Pasko-Dinjiska” valley. The safest port for big ships is situated south of the bay and is called “Drljanda”, where the depths reach 27-38 m. Smaller ships and yachts up to 3.5 m long are docked all along the outer part of the jointed quay (facing the village).

Novalja is powerful tourist centre and the key harbour on the island of Pag. It is exceptionally attractive and striking because of its gorgeous and wide sandy beaches and pleasant Mediterranean weather, rich cultural and historical inheritance, a variety of recreational and sports offer, local food specialties.

It is also worth pointing out Novaljas good connections to the mainland during the whole year. Novalja is to be found in the north of the island. In current times Novalja turned out to be well-known because of the beach Zrće, one of the leading summer party zones in whole Europe.

Metajna is a small village with a small marina in the east of the Pag island. It is very well known for its natural spring of drinking water.

Metajna is a quiet little place that started its development in tourism just recently, couple years ago. Till than its existence was entirely based on and livestock breeding. However, clean sea, beautiful sandy beach, quality domestic products together with a pleasant private accommodation and the contribution of splendour of intact nature – this all made Metajna a superb place for vacation.

On the island of Pag you can find some more even smaller places for your vacation, quiet and peaceful, little less civilised, but very pleasant and charming. Some of those places are Kolan, Šimunu, Dinjiška, Valšiči, Povljana and so on.
