Nudist beaches in South Dalmatia - ISLANDS ONLY
If you are looking for a nudist beach or a camp on islands in southern part of Dalmatia, you also won’t be disappointed. You will find many naturist official beaches and camps the same as those which are not specially assigned for nudist, but have a long tradition of existing in such style - FKK.
Rather be sure that the beach you have chosen is formerly known as a nudist beach, above all if it is in the neighbourhood of a city or a village. This is one suggestion you should comply with if you are a true nudist. Take it as an advice in a good will from a friendly Croatian host. However, you are very welcome!
Island of Korcula
BADIJA
This is an abandoned little island which is positioned east of the city of Korcula, about 20 min far by a boat. When I say little, I mean for real – only a square kilometre large and covered by a thick pines, cypresses, unavoidable olive tree and a low grass. If you don’t have your own boat, there is a little boat which daily runs from the city of Korcula to this little island.
The beach there is mainly gravel and the sea is perfect for swimming. Above all this isle is visited by pairs. From there you can go to another two little islands Velika and Mala Stupa which are in close vicinity to the Badija and as well visited by nudists.
PROZID
Near the city of Vela Luka is one other little island that is labelled as ‘’the island of love’’ – it is the island of Prozid. It is a refuge of intact nature, white pebbled nudist beach. Crystal sea and rocks within blossoming flora is a real sanctuary for your vacation and relaxation.
LENGA
On this beach you can find a mixed population of sunbathers and swimmers. Sometimes there are mainly naturists, sometimes textiles. Lenga beach is situated about one kilometre far from the Lumbarda on Korcula. It is considered of a couple appealing small coves as a part of extended coast.
VAJA
Vaja beach is a little hidden paradise veiled by rocks about ten minutes of walk from the village of Racisce on the island of Korcula. It is reachable only on foot by an unfinished road and then by a small pathway over the cliff till it reaches this gorgeous beach. There you can have your piece of solitude and peace.
To reach the village of Racisce you have to go west about twelve kilometres from the city of Korcula. Racisce is a place where Korcula and Peljesac Cannels meet.
The island of Mljet
BLACE
On the south-east part or the island of Mljet is positioned one of the most beautiful sandy bays on Croatian islands. You will need about twenty minutes on foot to come there from Saplunara village where is good private accommodation offered. This gorgeous beach is protected by small cliffs and in the same time faced and exposed to the open sea. Blace is not officially a naturist beach, but it is opened and used for a long time by both nudist and textiles.
Although there is no an official nudist beach on the island of Mljet, you can find your peace and place to swim and sunbath naked in numerous beautiful rocky and stone bays. A lot of them are reachable just by a boat.
Dubrovnik area
The islands of Lopud, Kolocep, Sipan and Lokrum are all in the vicinity of the city of Dubrovnik. On every one of them you can find a nude section, nude people between dressed ones, dressed among naked, you will rarely find nude people surrounding a road (something like an unspoken imperative) and for shy or more solo types there are numerous coves in which you can stay out of site.
Almost everywhere you can find a good private accommodation. Clime is subtropical with all of its characteristics.
This was a little bit about free South Dalmatia beaches.

BADIJA: The FKK beach on the island of Badija (20 minutes by water taxi from Korcula harbour) is brilliant! Superb scenery and a really relaxing “Paradise” away from it all! Even the wild deer can be coaxed down to the edge of the beach with bits of apple - only feed them with fruit or vegetables as their digestive systems can easily be harmed!
This beach is quite narrow. It is pebbly in places and rocky in others (take a comfy beach mat) and has lots of shade from the pine trees - so it is good to sunbathe or just to sit naked in the shade reading a book. The water is crystal clear and great for snorkelling and there is a very good cafe serving delicious snacks near to the first boat-stop. This cafe has good clean toilets.
If you want to save time getting to the FKK beach ask the boatman to drop you off at the “FKK jetty” which is the second boat-stop on the island. When you get off the water taxi (at either stop) just turn right and follow the pathway anti-clockwise around to the back of the island and you will find the naturist beach. The beach is never really crowded and often has textiles on the first section but the further you go there will be more nudists. If you go all the way along to the rocky section this is usually exclusively nudist and it still has good places to get into the water. Here it is quite private and very easy to really relax and enjoy yourselves.
Walking on the island is good as it is along mostly level tree-shaded paths that have a soft bed of pine needles underfoot. There are beautiful wild deer and interesting small lizards. The scent of pine and the sound of crickets fills the air. My wife and I have been coming to this magic place for years!

I wrote an article on Southern Croatia (along with 8 photographs) and this was published in the May 2008 issue of “Health & Efficiency Naturist” magazine. I featured the FKK beach at Badija because I like it so much and it really needs (and deserves) to attract more nudists. It is a very beautiful place!
I will be back at Badija again between 21st July and 3rd August 2008 as I move down the coast - I then finish with another week at the Hotel Croatia at Cavtat. If any nudists would like to feature in any photographs or articles I would be very pleased to hear from them. Just contact me at the Hotel Liburna at Korcula or at the Hotel Croatia from 3rd - 9th August.
