Kayaking in Croatia – Cetina
With the freedom a kayak gives you, what is the most fabulous spot to go than in Croatia, with its multitude of historical coastal sites to visit and even more tiny bays and coves where you can discover a beach to yourself. The crystal clear greenish blue waters are wonderful for swimming and snorkeling, being warm most of the year, and you can check at any of the resort hotels along the coast to try out some of Croatia’s great gastronomy.

If you want the biggest concentration of history mixt with spectacular beauty, you would do no wrong getting in Central Dalmatia. On the mainland you have the capturing, bustling city of Split with its Roman rests, and the Makarska Riviera with its pretty beaches, resorts and night life. Out to sea, hardly a few paddles away, you have two of the most stunning islands in Croatia – Hvar and Brac.
Cetina river is one of the most pleasurable places in Croatia for fresh water kayaking and is definitely the spot to go for white water rafting. The character of the Cetina deviates considerable along its length. In the upper parts it is mostly fast with plentitude of whitewater rapids, and dwells in deep ravines with nasty rock outcrops. In the lower parts the river is much slower, more like a lake, with the tall canyon walls which stand up on either side being wider, from time to time marked by flatter areas smattered with tiny hamlets, broad-leaved woodlands and green hayfields full of flowers, which in springtime are really rather intoxicating. What more gratifying spot to be than in these calmer lower reaches when you’ve just come down from the rapids.
