How to get to the island of Hvar
How to get to the island of Hvar? Well, I’ll give you some tips, but for sure there are many other ways to do it.
By plane
All main cities in Europe offer you this possibility. For example with British Airways from London, Sky Europe from Budapest and Bratislava, German Wings from Berlin, Stuttgart and Cologne, Croatia Airlines from London and Manchester to Zagreb, Croatia. When you reach Zagreb then you have to take another airplane to Split. Flights to Split are provided by Croatian Airlines several times a day.
If you wish to come directly to Split instead of changing plane in Zagreb there are some airlines that are competent also for this, but just in summer period - charter.
–from United Kingdom with airlines; Sn Brussels Airlines, Fly be, Croatia Airlines which leave from airports Gatwick, Birmingham, Norwich and Bristol
-from Germany and Ireland (Dublin) with Air Adriatic – it is a Croatian charter
-from most other European countries to Croatia with Easy Jet
The plane or the charter will get you to the airport of Split from where you’ll first have to take a bus from the airport to Split port. That is because to come to the island of Hvar, you’ll have to go ahead by ferry or catamaran.
By train:
If you want to come to the island of Hvar once when you are already in Dalmatia then it is the best way to take a train to Split. The train station in Split is situated at the port where from you can take a ferry or a catamaran to come to the island of Hvar.
Ferry lines from Italy:
- if you are coming with Ryan air departing from Italy you can go directly from Ancona to Stari Grad on Hvar Island or from Pescara to Split than to Stari Grad on Hvar Island.
By ferry from Split:
- only Stari Grad has a ramp for disembark cars – have that on your mind if you are car tripping to the island of Hvar. Distance between Stari Grad and the city of Hvar is about 15 min by car.
- If you voyage as passenger you can take catamaran and go directly to the city of Hvar. You can also regularly go by ferry to Stari Grad port where there is a bus waiting to take you to the city of Hvar.
