Alongside Croatia’s coast there are many beaches. You could even say that Croatia’s coast is one big beach. Clear sea water is also an important supplement which makes a beach perfect for a pleasurable vacation.

All beaches are public.
Croatian coast simply offers you 1778 kilometres of seashore on the mainland. Even if you are more an island type, Croatian coast has more than 1000 islands with further 4012 kilometres of seashore to offer you. Even more fun is that only 66 of those islands are populated.

The majority of the beaches on the Croatian coast are rocky beaches (around 75%). Remained part of 25% is small rock or pebble beaches. Those small rock beaches are generally to be found in the coves. Beaches of sand are rather rare and uncommon for Croatia’s coast, although you can find them as a part of bigger beaches nearby cities. Those little sandy beaches are usually made for children.

Beaches in the vicinity of towns usually have a concrete terrace to support the way into the sea. It is surprising how environmentally well-matched are those structures in a several places like for example in the Riviera of Opatija etc. In Opatija is almost impossible even to imagine the coast looking differently or more gorgeous. Entrance into the water is such that even very bad swimmers can get pleasure from it and a perfect place for children to splash around. To the deep water you get gradually as it takes the body to adjust to the temperature of the water.
Nevertheless, for Croatian beaches you may strongly consider to wear shoes for a beach.

When you are choosing the beach you must always have on mind the fact that all of the towns or in general main beaches are highly occupied. As I already mentioned in the beginning, on the Croatian coast there are no private beaches and so you can consider trying to find a part where you can enjoy your privacy. Renting a boat is also an option in a search for the most beautiful places that are not easy to get to by a car or a road. Yes, there are places that are not reachable in other way than by a sea.

Sometimes, when you are looking for a beach outside of a city, you must look around, along the road. When you suddenly spot a bunch of cars parked down the road, you’ll know that you are close to a good beach.
If you see FKK sign, you must know it means that you are close to a nudist beach.
