Beaches on the island of Vis





The island of Vis is in a possession of some fine beaches, mainly near the city of Komiza. There are some sandy beaches there, but the most common are pebble beaches (Velo zalo, Nova posta, Gusarica).

Stoncica bay is repeatedly refereed as Hawaii of the Vis and is the most stunning one on the island of Vis. Stoncica bay is to be found about 6km from the city of Vis on the north eastern shore of the island of Vis. It is a gorgeous bay bottom covered with sand. There you can have a good meal in one charming restaurant filled with home atmosphere. One gorgeous lighthouse, some cosy private apartments and entire houses for rental are there at your disposal.

Several landlords can propose very convenient taxi boat service to the very city of Vis. This place is like made for those in search of some peace and calmness, a holiday far from fuzzy civilization. There are no telephones, no running water, but only cisterns of rainwater. Stoncica is also a good aim for sailing travellers. In search for the beaches ask for Rogacic, Mala and Vela Svitnja and Parja.

The bay of Milna is to be found on the south of island of Vis. It is only about 10 km faraway from the city of Vis and it is linked with the city by recently renewed road. Milna cove has got mainly sandy beaches. You will need just about 10 min on foot to reach the most striking sandy beach of all on the whole island of Vis – Zaglav beach. Beaches in Milna bay are appropriate for every one who picture their holidays far from crowds and noisy beaches. This cove is also frequently visited by yachts.

Not far from Zaglav beach you can find a bit smaller sandy beach that can also give you a lots of pleasure and be a base for an unforgettable holidays – Burgujac.

In the village of Rukavac, near the city of Milna, there is Srebrena beach or the Silver beach. Srebrena is above all stunning white pebbled beach. Many think and speak about it as of the most beautiful among all Croatian Adriatic beaches. Rukavac bay includes also two little islands with the well-known Green Grotto (cave). They can be seen as a part of excursion organised by tourist agencies.

One of the most extraordinary and stunning inlets in the Adriatic is Stiniva bay. It is to be found on the north of the island of Vis and is recognised for its very slim entry and beautiful pebbled beach 30 meters long. The beach in Stiniva bay is sheltered by some sharp and almost vertical rocks, 35 m high. To this bay you can not come by car and that is one of the reasons how it has managed to preserve the most of its natural beauty.
