I will now recommend you some fine places for windsurfing on Croatian islands. Those are suitable for beginners the same as for those who are a bit advanced.

BOL on the island of BRAC
This place is absolutely supreme of all windsurfing spots on Croatian islands and on Croatian seashore at all. On the island of Brac in Bol, there is also the most famous Croatian beach – Zlati Rat (Golden Horn).

Windsurf

The tag for the best and world famous windsurfing place is in the possession of the city of Bol for many years, some says even from 70’s. All through the summer the main wind is MAESTRAL. This wind is good for advanced surfers. In morning hours LEVANTE wind is blowing – that is the time for beginners. During the day wind changes and it is always suitable for some surfers. The most stunning sight to see is when strong south-western maestral is blowing and all of the experienced surfers go and ride those spectacular waves.
On the island of Brac there are also a lot of other opportunities to ride waves – Supetar with the JUGO (2,5 meters waves), Povlja with BURA (4 metres waves)and so on.

BASKA on the island of KRK
This is one place that is definitely not for beginners. Beginners in Baska are advised to stay on Baskas beautiful beaches and go to the sea for a good swim, but not surf. Namely, in Baska there is a very strong wind BURA (often about 30 notches) that sometimes blows so strongly that it is not easy to surf even for real professionals. So, come windsurf to Baska if you are experienced surfer in quest for adrenalin.

PUNAT on the island of KRK
If it doesn’t work for you in Baska go some 15 kilometres backwards in the direction of the city of Krk and you will come to Punat. Punat is absolutely appropriate for beginners and windsurfers without experience. Here also blows BURA, but it is not so powerful like it is in Baska. In Punat you can also surf when JUGO is blowing, you won’t be disappointed.

VIGANJ on the island of PELJESAC
By fame and conditions, Viganj is following Bol, it is on the high second place. The reason for a good wind for windsurfing in Viganj, you can find in its position – in the centre of a slim channel among the island of Peljesac and the island of Korcula. That is why the wind blows in double speed as it is common in the Adriatic Sea.

Good wind for surfing starts already in the morning and during the day it only becomes more powerful and challenging for windsurfing. Conditions before the storm are just right for those with more experience and courage.
