It is often called the Island of Sunshine, Sea and Beauty – separated from the mainland only by The Velebit canal and just 15 minutes by ferry from the mainland city of Senj.
The centre city of this gorgeous island is little city of Rab. There are seven more heavenly peaceful little cities on this island and all of them are equally worth of visiting – Lopar, Kampor, Mundanije, Banjol, Barbat, Supetarska Draga and Palit. About ten thousand people are inhabited on the island of Rab and they are mainly engaged in tourism, fishing and agriculture. More than hundred years ago people on this island have organised the society with an assignment of promoting the island. More specific – this happened in year 1889 and it counts for the start of organised tourism on the island of Rab.
The island of Rab is part of the Kvarner group of islands and it itself is surrounded by number of small islets: Laganj Mali, Laganj Veli, Maman, Dolfin Veli, Dolfin Mali, Grgur, Goli, Sv. Juraj, Trstenik and Dolin.

Inhabitants of this island are already habitually and traditionally hospitable and as a nation Croatians are polyglots – these two facts will help you to feel as at home on the island of Rab.
It is not hard to speculate why the island of Rab has such developed tourism. Namely, climate conditions on this island are perfect for the most of the year, especially for people with respiratory and cardiac troubles. This is for the health tourism, but that is not the base of tourism on the island of Rab.

On the island of Rab tourism is based on not so big offer, but this offers quality. Such quality and hospitality is a product of an extensive tradition in offering services in such quality rank. It is a mix of a feeling of hospitality, a lot of skills and unavoidable experience. All of this is probably the reason for forming of the School for tourism, which is these days highly appreciated and respected. Everybody on the island of Rab is also especially proud of it.
